Many
parents dealing with their food allergic children often times find
themselves isolated as they go through periods of denial, anxiety,
grief, anger and self-doubt. Being able to manage and cope in Singapore
is especially difficult as minimal understanding of allergies, let
alone FOOD allergies, exist. However, as Singapore is considered to be
progressive in its medical endeavors and achievements, we can start
planting the seed to be heard and grow strong.
Our
mission is to provide a forum where families can share their stories,
their challenges, their accomplishments; to increase awareness of food
allergies through education; to assist with medical research in order
to enhance food allergy knowledge; to enable our food allergic children
to identify with others like them.
This
support group relies on scientific-based information and our
educational materials undergo review of our medical advisory team.
Currently the team is made up of local prominent leaders in food
allergy science and medicine:
Dr. Lee Bee Wah at Child and Allergy Clinic, Mount Elizabeth
Dr. Wen Chin Chiang at KKH
Dr. Hugo van Bever NUH
Dr. Lynette Shek at NUH
Dr. Dawn Lim at Kinder Clinic, Paragon
Karen Wright, clinical dietician from The Food Clinic
